AESG was appointed as the waste management consultant for the Dubai campus of the University of Birmingham. The university consisted of classrooms, seminar rooms, wet and dry labs, IT labs, F&B areas, and office spaces. The complexity of the project involved extensive zonation, segregation, and the strategic design of operational elements such as waste flows. Waste storage and treatment rooms were engineered and designed for optimum efficiency. In addition, the presence of several labs throughout the building required a detailed hazardous waste management strategy and measures for careful handling of hazardous waste. Composting and baling were both incorporated in the strategy to reduce the total volume of waste sent to landfill.
